Research Interests

In the Haan lab we use electrochemistry to address a variety of problems. We have developed a formate fuel cell, which we have applied to several platforms, including paper microfluidics. We also study the oxidation of other small organic molecule fuels to identify catalyst-fuel combinations that are particularly efficient. Electrochemistry can also be applied to conversion of carbon dioxide, and we are interested in a more efficient pathway from carbon dioxide to formate.
